How to Prepare for Your Dumpster Drop-Off

You’ve booked your dumpster — now what? A little preparation before delivery day ensures a smooth drop-off, protects your driveway, and helps you get the most out of your rental period. Here’s everything you need to know.

Choose the Right Placement Spot

The most common placement is on your driveway, close to the work area but with enough clearance for the delivery truck. Ideally, you want a flat, firm surface with at least 60 feet of straight-line access for the truck to back in. If your driveway is tight, let us know when you book — we’ll figure out the best approach.

Clear the Area

Before the truck arrives, move any vehicles, bikes, trash cans, or other obstacles out of the delivery path and away from the placement spot. You’ll want about 10 feet of width and overhead clearance for branches, wires, or awnings.

Protect Your Driveway

If you’re concerned about your driveway surface, lay down a few sheets of plywood where the dumpster will sit. This distributes the weight and prevents scuffing. For asphalt driveways in warm weather, this is especially worth doing.

Know What You Can (and Can’t) Toss

Most household and construction debris is fine — drywall, lumber, furniture, shingles, flooring, appliances, yard waste. Hazardous materials like paint, chemicals, batteries, and tires are not accepted. If you’re unsure about a specific item, give us a call and we’ll let you know.

What to Expect on Delivery Day

Our driver will call or text when they’re on the way. The drop-off itself takes about 10 minutes. We’ll place the dumpster exactly where you want it, confirm the rental period, and you’re good to start loading. When you’re done, call us and we’ll pick it up — usually within 24 hours.
